Direct to Home (DTH) is one of the applications DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting), which is a TV broadcasting using satellite as digital TV transmission. DTH is a satellite communications system of one-way (simplex) that is used to TV broadcast via satellite, which serves as a repeater satellites that receive TV broadcasts from the transmitter and re-transmitted to the TVRO within its coverage.
This service provides an audio signal broadcast facilities / video regular TV programs (fixed) via satellite (TV Contribution) and temporary services for digital satellite delivery of live video programs and recordings in the city or region covered by both the configuration of point-to - point or point-to-multipoint. DTH network configuration for the TV Broadcast can be seen in the following figure:
Here is a picture of the process running on the system for DTH TV Broadcast via satellite:
- The program will show the source is divided into 2 types namely:
- Channels Turn Around is a program that is transmitted by the other party (Program Provider), and then accepted by the Main Station TV Broadcaster, processed, and transmitted back (re-broadcast) via satellite in real time.
- Originated Local Channels is a local program from the Main Station TV Broadcasters, both in-program and program playback live show.
- Turn Around accepted by the Main Station TV Broadcaster from 2 sources :
- From other satellites received by using a satellite dish.
- From terrestrial transmitter that comes from the Main Station Local TV Broadcasters other.
- For programs that are still in analog form is converted to digital.
- Programs in digital format and then with the program.
Local Originated grouped into several groups of events.
- Movie TV Broadcaster Main Station is attached to the program.
- Each program will then be converted to compress or streams of data in the MPEG-2 format.
- MPEG-2 data stream at the top and then the signal is modulated into a form suitable for transmission to the satellite.
- The signal is transmitted to the satellite and transmitted back to all areas within the satellite coverage.
- The signal from the satellite received by the C-band ODU (Outdoor Unit) and distributed to the IRD (Integrated Satellite Receiver and Decoder).
- IRD will translate the received signal back into video and audio components to run.
