 A major disaster occurred in Indonesia again, after last month earthquake shook the provinces of West Java, now the tectonic earthquake magnitude 7.6 Richter scale shook the province of West Sumatra on Wednesday September 30, 2009 at 17:16 pm. But it was not potentially earthquake tsunami. Sumatra earthquake was more devastating loss of life and take a more corpulent than the earthquake west of Java.
Sumatera earthquake epicenter occurred at 0.84 south latitude (SL) and 99.65 East Longitude (EL) or 78 km northwest of Padang city, 99 km southwest of Bukittinggi, or 106 km east of the Mentawai Islands. It is estimated that thousands of victims killed in West Sumatra earthquake.
The epicenter was located at 57 km northwest of Pariaman, West Sumatra, with a depth of 71 km. An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter Scale was also felt that the area in Medan, North Sumatra. The earthquake occurred at 17:16 pm and centered in the region Sumbar. Base on monitoring, earthquake vibration felt through the Medan city, which causes some residents homes and offices in the area rushed out.
